Professor Lee Seung Hoon (Seoul National University)

Wann? Mittwoch, 05.11.2014, 18-20 Uhr
Wo? Koreanistik, Wilhelmstraße 133, Raum 30

Herr Prof. Lee Seung Hoon hat sich bereit erklärt, The Koins ein paar thematische und persönliche Fragen zu beantworten:

1. Where are you from? (Country and City)
 Seoul, Republic of Korea

2. Could you give us a short introduction of your presentation topic?
Industrialization of developing economies had to be a form of ‘Learning by Imitation’ how to produce manufactured goods which are currently circulated in global market. So economic catch-up consists of procedures of this learning.

3. Have you been to Germany before? If so, where have you been?
I have visited Germany several times. Bonn, Bielefeld, Berlin, Duesseldorf.

4. How is your impression of Tübingen as a town?
A beautiful town where historic past coexists with present in comfortable harmony. Fascinating city.

5. When you leave Korea for a longer period of time, what do you miss the most?
My grandchildren. This time my wife accompanied me.

6. What is your favorite Korean dish, what is your favorite German one?
Naengmyun ( cold noodles). I like German Bratwurst sausages and sauerkraut.

7. Have you experienced differences between Korean and German students?
Both work very hard. German students ask many questions, while Koreans try to find answers by themselves. I think German students will learn more efficiently.

8. What kind of advice would you give us as Korean Studies majors? Are there aspects about Korean economy and society that will become relevant for us in the future?
Globalization is making the entire globe a small village. German people will encounter more and more occasions to cooperate with Korea from industrial activities to cultural ones, to name a few, and the same will be true for Koreans. Your learning about Korean economy and society will be very useful to facilitate and deepen the interactions.

9. Do you have a role model? If so, who and why?
Konrad Adenauer, who was able, despite his old age, to give confidence in disturbed minds of German people after World War II.

Sehr geehrter Herr Professor Lee, wir danken Ihnen nochmal recht herzlich für Ihre Zeit und Mühe! Dear Prof. Lee, thank you very much for your time and effort!
